Yume/Dream pattern of Chokoku Glass is made of two layers of colored glass, hand-blown one by one, and engraved by hand to show the contrast between the two colors.
This series was developed by applying the techniques of various glass works created by Emile Gallé and other artists during the Art Nouveau ("New Art" in French) period that took place mainly in France from 1870 to 1930.
Tableau Kōbō was heavily influenced by 19th century artists and started with the idea of fusing Japanese & European techniques & sensitivities. The name "Tableau" comes from the French word "tableau", meaning "painting".
